Porthleven from an artists perspective

Porthleven for me is a relatively new discovery and boy oh boy what a discovery. It is a half hour drive on the south coast from where I live in Penzance and I have found a great spot just under the Ship Inn in the south side of the Harbour where I can both park up and am sheltered from the gusts of wind coming in of the sea. There is a super tower there that is the landmark for the town. In the winter the sea smashes into the harbour causing colossal waves. There are super not to expensive snack shops around and a Rick Steins if you want to push the boat out for a Fish and Chips. I also like to stand just under the Tower and paint back towards the town with my easel. I don’t have to stand as there is a wall there. It is a super Cornish Fishing village, well populated and visitors love it in the summer, so it gets very busy so as always get there early if you want to get a parking spot. I have painted en plein air here now many times and have done some crackers. So thankyou Porthleven.
