Looe from an artists perspective

Looe is new for me. I have been there painting twice last year and loved it. Parking here is especially tricky and getting here early again is a must. There are also some weeks when they have festivals where you won’t get in at all so best to check first. I have found parking best on the south side.

From there there are loo`s and outdoors cafes and most importantly a ferry over to the other side. But only on the high tide though so don’t get stuck like I did and not get back because the water was out and must walk all the way around. The beaches also are good to paint and there are some great vantage points looking out to sea and back in towards the Harbour and all the little hoses up on the hill.

For any out-door artist like myself I would recommend Looe. The Bridge going across is also a good subject matter from both sides. It has a real seaside fun feel to it with lots of families and children catching crabs off the Wall. The beach gets very busy too and there is a walk out along the harbour wall where there are seats which you can sit on to paint.
